The Beginning of World War II

May 22, 2012 | In: World War II

World War II began after many dubious actions of Hitler and Nazi Germany. Coming after The Great War, the world didn’t want more fighting, and it’s obvious why.

Even though the War began in 1939, the first step towards this conflagration began 6 years before, when Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany. That was the beginning of what will soon be the greatest war ever in history; not just in matter of number of people killed in battles, but also concerning atrocities never heard of before. These include mass killing of Jews by Nazi Germany, Russians, Serbs, Ukrainians by the Russian Communist leader, Stalin.

Like I said, no one in Europe wanted a war, but when Hitler attacked Poland in September 1939, many countries felt like it was their duty to act. After that, 6 years of gruesome battles and killings followed.

Hitler wanted more land, especially in the east, according to Germany’s policy of lebensraum. After the end of WW I, a treaty of peace was signed in France, at the palace of Versailles through which Germany couldn’t attack any state in Europe. But Hitler didn’t care much about the treaty and attacked Poland. He said it’s his right to take the lands were German speaking people lived. Not only did he attack Poland, but he managed to invade two countries based solely on the fact that Germans everywhere deserve to be united. Surprisingly, all the countries which signed the Treaty of Versailles didn’t brake the armistice and so, didn’t declare war on Germany.

But things didn’t look so good and any conscious man sensed that another war was bound to begin…
